I began this wonderful, serene and gratifying undertaking in June of 2007.
I have 5 children - 4 boys and a girl ranging in age from 2 to 12 years old.
My oldest son Evan has been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome which is on the Autism spectrum. This young man is my hero. He cannot communicate with others naturally. He has mannerisms and responses that alienate him from mainstream children, but that doesn't stop him from trying. He is an avid artist, plays the cello, and has a laugh that warms my soul. He struggles day to day and is subject to ridicule, but his solace and strength comes from his sister, brothers and his parents. He has a tougher row to hoe than most, but responds with strength and the best humor he knows how to convey.
My daughter Hannah is a beautiful, giving and loving young lady of 9 that has immersed herself in my love of pipes and constantly asks me to 'quiz' her on the types and makers of my pipes. She is 'mother hen' to her younger brothers and they love her for it. She is very loving and n uturing by nature.
My son Nate is a rambunctious, but extremely sensitive and loving as well. He makes me smile.
AJ is next in line and is a waif of a little dude and loves Star Wars. He is a cuddly, remarkably handsome little bugger who makes an impact on anyone who meets him.
And then there's Josh - the tank. He is 2 and already has outgrown AJ's 4 year old wardrobe. A hilarious sense of humor, strong as an ox, and is our baby.
My wife Jodi is my best freind. A beautiful, good hearted soul who will do anything for anybody. She gave up a career to care for our autistic son and I admire her for that. She runs a tight ship with 5 tyrants on board, is very involved in the kids school, homework and evolution into hopefully caring, responsible adults. I am a much better person because of her.
I love to refurbish estate pipes. I love to take pipes that are old and crusty and make them look new. I respect each pipe as they are in this shape as they have been a source of serenity for someone and if those pipes could talk, they'd tell amazing stories.
