Good morning folks.

check this pipe out. it looks like someone shoved a bent stem up the business end of a slug and called it a pipe. I actually like it...i think.

on a wet and chilly West Coast Sunday morning. It is now 05:40 PST and I am already at work :(.
I tell you, there is something horribly wrong with the idea of getting up at 03:30 on a Sunday morning when all the rest of the family is just entering the REM sleep mode:(.
Stanwell Brazilia billiard with McC 2015 and a the first coffee of the day. Enjoy your day once you get up (unless your are up already.... ).
Aging is mandatory, maturing is optional.
I felt it coming on yesterday. First the tickle in my nasal area, then in the back of my throat, followed by achy ears. The dreaded annual cold has again, as every year, arrived. I want a morning smoke but doubt I'd enjoy it. All of 10F out there and church is canceled. I must admit I wonder how church gets canceled when priest lives in rectory next door, but then...I wouldn't be there anyway.
Perhaps I'll just pretend I'm having my first smoke in my brand new Comoy's Tiger Eye Saddle Pot purchased on Friday. Dreaming it's got some Bayou Morning in it which is what I intend to use for break-in, I am.
Happiness is a warm pipe.
Good day fellas. A storm just passed through & dropped some rain, cooling off a very hot day. Late afternoon here now & I've just lit up a bowl of Blackwoods Flake in a Pete 303. A bit later on I'll light up a barbeque & get a steak on it for Mrs. M & I. We've had a couple of heavy work days & it will be good to chill out a bit. Enjoy those pipes today.

Except I don't work weekends and get to sleep in until 4:00. I start at 5:00 but my commute that time of day is a bit under 15 minutes, on the way home at 5:30 it's about 45 minutes.

Sorry about the cold Demetri; I had the bug a week and a half ago and just stared at my pipes for about five days; it's a poor substitute for enjoying them. If it's any consolation, it was a relatively fast moving cold. Also, Allegheny County is on a "Boil Water" Advisory due to a breakdown in the water supply system yesterday. This includes ice cubes aparently, if you have the same medicinal discipline I do.
It's up to a balmy 12 degrees Fahrenheit (for those of you in a summery South Africa, that's 11 below Celsius). The snow on my sidewalk has been removed, though the city seems to be taking their time plowing the street. My predilection is to stay at home and enjoy a few bowls anyway, and since the weather seems to be demanding it, it might be a good opportunity to try some new blends or polish off some near empty tins. if I'm particularly ambitious, I have some pipes that could be reamed and cleaned.
There are worse ways to be snowbound.

Luckistrykes I think I'll join you in a bowl of Mac B Navy Flake. House is quiet....the missus and my daughter are taking a nap. Son is out skateboarding with friends.
Man, how I love peace and quiet.

and the first pipe. Enjoying (while keyboarding this post) a straight large billiard bowlfull of Engine 99 which is becomming my daily go to smoke. Sorry to learn you are down for the count Demetri and glad Tim has recovered and is back in business. Cannot mention snow as we have not seen any in these parts although the next weather "event" is due on Wednesday. I'm very jealous of Muddler enjoying summer in our winter and I really enjoy reading about all the traffic in South Africa. I cannont stand all the traffic on Long Island and dream about relocating in retirement to the far northern reaches of Vermont. I envy those who can explore their own forest, hunt or target shoot whenever they like, take a dip in the lake on the border of their property and escape the hustle and bustle of crowds of people and traffic congestion. Somehow those of us in the states just assume that there would not be traffic congestion in South Africa. Go figure! I guess the whole planet has turned into highways and shopping malls. Long Island is one giant congested shopping mall. Everybody here needs to run around and accumulate more and more stuff. Then when they have too much stuff they have a garage sale to get rid of the excess stuff. The strange thing is then they run around to garage sales to get other people's stuff and brag about the bargain they just found. I feel like George Carlin may he rest in peace. I've got all the stuff I'll ever need. Thank goodness for delivered tobacco. Hope all have enjoyed and rested this weekend as it is rapidly ending as is my smoke. Planning Penzance before I hit the sack and will enjoy the superbowl and a cool one this evening. Since the Jets lost to the Colts I'm a Saints fan tonight.

Guitar fest rehearsal Friday night and we were 1/2 hour late due to many circumstances. Worked all day yesterday, had some more fun in the sound room (we have a room set up for live PA stuff, since I am only there one day a week someone has generally sold something out of the system that I have to replace. Tends to take me all day but it is fun.)
Today was nice and sunny so I finished up the car port and got the tiller taken apart. The tiller crapped out last spring. It ran, but the tines didn't turn. Diagnosis - broken chain. Cure - replace chain. Liklihood - slim. First problem is finding a chain for said tiller, second problem is remembering how to get the bloody thing back together. Add to that it is severely rusted, I may end up just replacing it but it would be fun to get it working again and say "I did that".
This would have been a perfect opportunity for something in the corn cob but the pipe is supposed to be a way for me to unwind and I can't unwind while I work. I also clench my jaw so tight while working with tools I'd end up biting through a stem.
Well, gonna clean off the desk, get some Little Ceaser's and watch a movie. Take care guys.
The fat lady has not yet sung....but asses are really being kicked in Miami this evening. It's tough keeping a clenched set of teeth tonight.
