Just saw these and thought you steampunk fans out there would enjoy the pics:

All of them. A good friend of mine is seriously trying to talk me into making fire-arms. He has a gunsmithing course lined up and builds blackpowder rifles as a hobby. His current project is a .96" calibre blunderbuss. An awesome piece. If I decide to take this up as yet another hobby, I think this is the kind of stuff I will be making. Strange thing is that although I always liked steampunk I never really got interrested until it became a recurring topic here.
Shame on you Gezerfan!! I think you caused the commotion in the first place.
Highly possible, and not at all unlikely.
It's easy to see that a lot of time, effort and thought went into the making of those!!
Looks like somebody raided the cathode tube department in a parts store 50 years ago.
Ha black powder rifles are freakin' awesome. I have a .50 cal. percussion cap and I love it. They are beautiful.
Kind of Flash Gordon (ahhhh-ahhhhh) vs Dune (the Film) vs Wild wild West (the film).
My preferred is the 2nd, but all of them are beautiful.
The second one is the prize.
Those look pretty cool. The first one looks like a Star Trek phaser.
Dunno if any of you guys are interested in movies that convey the steampunk feel, but one of the best ever is "The Illusionist". Hats and pocket watches, lenses and odd contraptions. It even goes so far as to use some of the "reel film" style cinematography, during dream and memory sequences. Ed Norton and Paul Giamatti are absolute gems in the clockwork on this one.
I have that one on DVD. I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Maybe the Mrs. and I will sit down and watch it tonight. Thanks for reminding me :)
I'll check to see if that movie is available at the video store ... is it very old or fairly new?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443543/
If yes it's from 2006
Vasco, that's the one!
Lars, you won't be disappointed, and if the Mrs. is watching it too, maybe you'll get a little action tonight - it has that effect on women. Especially since you have the "Eisenheim goatee".. heh heh!
mmmmmmmmmmh Jessica Biel.

oh .. and the movie was good too. and yes, I have the goatee working for me :)
She was rather luscious in this movie, I must agree. Not that Mr. Norton was anything short of yummy, either. And I hesitate to use "Paul Giamatti" and "handsome" in the same sentence, but he comes the closest to pulling it off in this movie than in any other I've seen him in. That beard and that style of clothing really work for his body type, methinks.
Bravo Geezer!
I love this kind of stuff. There's even a Japanese animation series. on the subject. Steamboy? Can't remember. But I never heard of literature. Once I read the comments you guys were going on about I went straight to Amazon! Oh boy, Oh boy, what great fun awaits me!!!!!!!
Thanks!
Jim
but it's the same spirit. (real size is 1024 x 711)

With a pipe on it (800x960)

This is from deviantart.com you might want to take a look there.
Excellent pics, and they are DEFINITELY steampunk, especially the first one.
Did you noticed the eye in the 2nd pic ? It have some grain, it looks more wood than metal. But the pipe... some kind of Falcon... 8-)
Vasco, it seems that the bug has bitten you too ;-) That second pic is really mind boggling. I think I must get it blown up to postersize and frame it for the living room.
How many bugs do you count there ?
I think that Deviant Art sells prints.
Personally I prefer the bugs outside my house... 8-) It's much easier here than in SA... 8-)
Och... Where did you find her?
Thank you Geezer, she's a keeper.
Jim
I know deviant.com! Christina, my Brazilian employee, has a page there. There is a lot of good work there. I like the pipe...LOL
Jim
yet another Steampunk Site
Their prices are incredibly low, and I will definitely shop there! The brass opera glasses, I'm thinking...
Thought everyone would get a kick from this.

Everything on that site is AWESOME!
I'm not much into the steampunk look, but that man's jewelry would definitely make some awesome gifts!
That pipe is a bit silly though, lol. Wonder how it would smoke :P
Thanks for the link.
I'm in love...
"The pipe draws wisdom from the lips of the philosopher, and shuts up the mouth of the foolish; it generates a style of conversation, contemplative, thoughtful, benevolent, and unaffected..."
