Description: A Red Virginia cavendish cased with a delicate maple flavor. An exceptionally smooth aromatic.

I have smoked and enjoyed several "premium" maple flavored aromatics. I am not referring to any over-the-counter brands that are so familiar. The premium maple aromatics I have experienced are all excellent. However, I will say that Autumn Evening is my favorite. The maple is delicate but you know it is there. Those around me like the aroma. I love the taste and aroma. Most of all, it is the Red Virginia Cavendish that does it for me. This provides an excellent base tobacco flavor along with that wonderful maple aroma and flavor. If you want a satisfying Virginia tobacco flavor along with excellent burning qualities and a taste you don't tire of, this is one of the best investments you will ever make in a premium aromatic. Not at all over done. It is premium tobacco and a perfectly balanced aromatic. I give it four stars. I smoke it in my daily rotation of aromatics, flakes and other non-aromatics. It has a permanent place among my favorite daily tobacco choices.

THANKS FOR THE REVIEW

Bob. I think it's one of the best aromatics out there today. When I smoke some it sometimes brings me back to the days when my parents would make pancakes with sausages, bacon and of course maple sirop for breakfast. Good memories, tasty ones too.

By the way,

There is a favorite Virginia traditional blend that I smoke almost as much as CBB. It is called Two Friends Heritage and has a very light drop of Maple flavor.

This is Craig Tarler's all day smoke. That speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Took some to Maine

It was pretty good. Then of course the next day we had pancakes and bacon. *heaven!*

Two Friends Heritage

Capt. Bob, is maple the only flavor added to this blend? Patty was kind enough to send me a free sample of Heritage when I placed an order with them. When I initially smelled it, I thought it smelled exactly like Red Man chewing tobacco (a sweet, molasses smell). However, upon opening the Ball Mason jar after letting it sit for a month, it smelled very much like whiskey. I was initially disappointed with this blend, but I think the problem was that I smoked it in one of my aromatic-dedicated pipes. I tried it again yesterday with my virginia-blend pipe and it was very, very satisfying. I don't really taste much flavoring at all; it just seems to add a wonderful sweetness to the blend. It also seems to leave a wonderful room note as well. I would highly recommend this blend to anyone who wants to try a light aromatic tobacco that doesn't overwhelm the natural flavors of the tobaccos, but merely enhances them. I find the virginias to be the dominant tobaccos in this blend, but the burley seems to add a good amount of body to the smoke. Anyway, after reading about Capt. Bob's Blend, I am very curious to try it. Should it be smoked in an aromatic pipe?

In answer to your first question, Two Friends Heritage contains only a slight amount of aromatic to bring out the sweetness of the Virginia Medley of tobaccos. There is some Burley flake added to give the blend some extra body. However, what you taste is primarily Virginia.
Craig Tarler has oftened remarked to me that there is some "Plum" in Heritage! Beyond that, you would need to ask him. Heritage is best smoked in a pipe reserved for non-Latakia and non-aromatic blends that will not ghost your pipe with other aromatic flavors.

As for Captain Bob's Blend, I would recommend using a pipe reserved for blends that contain Latakia and avoid pipes used for other aromatics blends. CBB starts out as an aromatic and finishes as a light English non-aromatic. Personally, I dedicate pipes just for CBB. But, it is ok to use a pipe you use for blends that contain Latakia. There may be some ghosting of the aromatic agent, however. The key is keeping your pipes clean by using a pipe cleaner after every smoke and giving your pipes a rest so as to avoid super-saturation of any of your tobacco blends juices.

If allowed ample drying time, you can just about smoke any blend in any pipe. The mistake many smoker's make is over smoking a particular pipe, not allowing it to dry and then switching to another blend in the same pipe. Ghosting will result and interfere with the new blends characteristics. I smoke 16 pipes. I will smoke up to eight different pipes in a day giving the other eight pipes a days rest. I do repeat the same blend in a particular pipe during a given day. However, I never smoke the same pipe twice in a row unless it has had some drying time after running a pipe cleaner through it. I also do not leave a pipe cleaner in a pipe. I think it is best to allow it to air dry.
