Dang, I lost my review of this blend when I went to another site and then came back here before posting.
Anyway, to try again, G&H Kendal Kentucky is one of my favorite GH offerings. It is a shag cut so it burns quickly; sipping is appropriate to get the most out of it. It starts off mild and smoky with an almost purfume aroma, though I believe it is not topped or cased. On TR it is referred to as a VA in the description but I am 99% sure it is a Burley. Lower in nicotine than Dark Bird's Eye owing to DBE's inclusion of sliced stems, and much milder than the ropes that I have smoked. For a change of pace and to sweeten it up a bit I mix it 60/40 with Kendal Gold (aka Kendal Light). Smokes best, in my experience in a narrow stack billiard.
I have smoked a lot of this stuff and I hate perfume. I get a strong smokey Burley taste never anything close to perfume. Am I missing something. Most GH's have a perfume taste but not this one. Tastes very wood like to me. I am going to load some now to see what's up.
I like Birdseye also

You're right, "almost perfume" was probably the wrong choice as it evokes images of some of the other GH blends. What I meant was that I have, in the past, smoked this shag too quickly (easy to do) but this time I slowed waaay down and was rewarded with a completely different experience. Instead of going for billows of smoke I sipped it just enough to keep it from going out and tasted/smelled an aroma I didn't know was there. It reminded me of the scent of flowers.
This stuff was a revelation to me. Ennerdale Flake had totally turned me off G&H tobaccos. To me it's all tobacco (burley for sure) taste in a easy-burning cut. Agree with Mouse regarding the best pipe for the job. I really like KK.
