Morning chaps from a rainy & decidely nippy SA. Not complaining about the rain though - it's much needed. Quite a few chores to do today - things accumulate when one is away from home. Right now though I'm enjoying a bowl of FVF in a GBD New Era sandblasted billiard. Enjoy your smokes today.

Good Day Mike & MPC

Good day Mike & MPC. It's 9C at 5:05AM here going to be a sunny day before the weekend rains. I'm presently smoking a fine bowl of Brown #4 Twist by SG in a SAV Saturnia #504, with Tim Hortons Homebrew coffee on the side. I'm also thinking about some Nasal Snuff. Hehe. Have a great Friday everybody. May your pipes be plentiful and flavourful.

this morning

It was more Kajun Kake, now in a filter less pipe.
I'm positive. If you want the full perique experience, don't crumble the kake, slice it in small squares as if it was a flake.

Jack, if you can smoke the Brown Twist and still think of having some snuff you'd better go for an industrial solution, maybe some Nicotine IV dip... 8-)))))... (joking...)

PM me your snail mail address and I'll send you an unopened 25g bag of SG brown twist... I can't smoke the thing. I like the black twist but find the brown way over my capabilities.

Thanks Vasco

Thanks Vasco, but before I send you my address have you tried mixing it with another blend. I've never done it but I hear it works really well when mixed with other tobaccos, it adds an extra punch. Oh and I did do the Nasal Snuff McChrystal's English Menthol, with another bowl of Brown #4 Twist. Where is that IV drip ? Hehe. Take Care Vasco.

brown twist

As suggested by Tech I tried a thin disk of the stuff in the middle of a HH Mature Virginia bowl. It still overwhelms me. And I still have another 20g, at the time I bought two 25g bags.
The black XX twist is another animal. Very tasty and not that strong. But I don't smoke it much.

So, the 2ng bag is yours if you want it.

Mornin'

Sorry I've been so quiet lately, been going through a lot at home, lol.

I haven't smoked a pipe in about a month until last weekend, when I lit up some "Idon'trememberwhatthatis" in my jar. I restored a wonderful Chacom billard and tried it out that night. Very fine pipe I might add. I'll post pics soon.

Stuck at work

But looking forward to some Cap'n Earles Honor blend when I get home. I know, I'm not much of one for VAPERs but with the right moisture content, this is nice.
Muggy and rainy here in the midwest. Chance of mold and mushrooms.

I was planning on lighting up a bowl of EMS (thanks to a gernerous MPC member :-P) But I overslept and now I am going to be late for work. With a pile of work to do and only tonight off It'll most likely be 7485 in my Dunhill The White Spot" billiard.

Happy smoking all

still soggy

in southern Indiana. I'm leaving work early to go downtown and get some building permits for a car port (who ever heard of such a thing??!!). Hopefully that all works out.

I don't know if I'll have time for a bowl or if the weather will cooperate. A fellow MPC-er sent me some Da Vinci blend with a pipe and it was quite nice. I've been hankering for it the past couple of days. We shall see.

Good Morning or Afternoon (wherever you may be) to all

Still wet and cool in SE WI and more to come over the weekend. Starting off with Plantation Evening in a Sav. Trevi and Sumatra Reserve coffee to rev the engine. Then probably settle in with some reading and some Sunday Picnic and/or Kajun Kake in other briars.
Vasco, I've actually just cut off a large chunk of KK and stuffed in it the bowl and it smoked fine. Whether one rubs it out , breaks off little flakes, or just put a chunk in, it can be smoked and enjoyed immensely.
Take Care-Bill

Happy G-20 Day in Pittsburgh...

yeah, right...
Just my usual mid-morning pipe fare of Engine#99 in same old Custombilt.
Later today I'll be checking out two smoke shops I've not yet explored. Will report back.
How any tobacconist today can be in business without an Internet presence is beyond my understanding; both have no website. I found them in new hard copy Yellow Page directory.

Good afternoon...

...one and all! It's overcast here as well, and I have a sinking feeling that I won't be able to smoke my pipe in the park today :( I just don't think that smoking in the rain will be that much fun.

I'm going to try another bowl of Odyssey to make sure that I've "mastered" it. I know it sounds pathetic, but I'm actually nervous when it comes to smoking that blend.

Ok question, is there a CHEAP way to clean out a pipe? Since I only have the one briar (an economy Italian pipe), I've smoked everything in it, and there is a definite build up of gunk in there. In all honesty, unless I smoke something very strong, I can't "taste" anything. I know it's the pipe because whenever I use my cob, I can taste the tobacco quite well.

Since I'm living off of a budget of only $20/week, I can't afford to buy all that fancy pipe cleaning stuff. Would a good overnight bath in soapy water do the trick (along with some hard scrubbing?)

Oh small update, I am most assuredly returning to college next semester! I got all of that worked out earlier this week (which is why, I must confess, that I did not post for a couple days). I'm very excited about this, and lol... I'm seriously thinking of buying a few pipes and stocking up on some tobacco with part of the grant money :D

Also, there are no pipe clubs on campus, and I'm thinking about starting one. I used to be president of AITP (Association of Information Technology Professionals) when I attended before, so I'm familiar with the whole club thing. Yet I don't know how to get a pipe club started. Anyone who has info on this, it would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know.

budget cleaning

Get a bottle of alcohol from the pharmacy or the drugstore and a box of small q-tips.
You will allays need some pipe cleaners for the stern.
Use the q-tips with alcohol in every place you can reach, use the PCs for the other places.
Don't try to ream the pipe with a knife with a point, just use rough sand paper (50 or 60 girt) and don't try to be perfect, remove just a bit from the cake and it will be fine until you can get a proper tool.
Roll a piece of the sand paper in a cylinder put it inside and just turn it around.

A Beautiful Day For A Pipe

It was indeed here in Cleveland. My first of the day was a bowl of Celebrated Soverign, my first favorite that, unfortunately, is no longer available. But an 'old flame' in my L'anatra lovat sitting in my freshly mowed back yard on such a beautiful day was just a reminder to me of the reason that we all enjoy this pass time so much. Hope all of yours was just as rewarding.

Been on the road all day...

Got home to the big C&D box. What a great way to end the day... all that tobacco!

On the menu today was, as usual, Pot O' Gold Mixture (mine) and CBB. Now puffing the L'Anatra Gigante with a bowl filled with delicious Uhle's Bishop's Move (heavy English).

today has been a Perique day

Several bowls of Kajun Kake on different pipes... I wish I still had some Heritage to finish the day (I'm waiting for a big tin to be delivered).
As I'm on a Perique mood I think I'll have a bowl of Bayou Morning Flake next.
Or maybe I'll try some C&D blending Perique all by itself with just a bit of PA to round the corners... 8-))) mmm I don't think I can handle that...

enjoy
