I'm on no.4 of the Vampire Earth series. I'm kinda a Sci-fi lover, but this is better than most. I have no idea why I picked these up this month and started the series, but I'm very glad I did. Superior descriptions, never dull and a winning writing style. Apocalytic earth invasion by vampires...who couldn't love that?
After finishing Jack Whyte's Camulod Chronicles, this is a nice diversion.
Yes, I read 'Forever War' when it first came out in p-back years ago. As I recall it was very good, but I don't think I ever got around to the sequels. I'm going to have to wait to read 5,6 and 7 of vampire earth because my wife just finished 'the Lost Symbol' so I can read MY copy.
Really though, the 'Vampire Earth' series isn't about what I believe people think of traditional vamps, it's a war for earth again. If you get a chance, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Finished no.7 acouple of weeks ago. The last three turned a little series on me, but still with excellent descriptions. Number eight is still in hardback, so I'll wait for paper. I still highly recommend.
Earth invasion by vampires and variations of vampires have been a favorite horror and sci-fi mix for a long time, even classics like A. E. van Vogt did it once or twice. Personally I don't like the theme much, I prefer my sci-fi in a book and my horror in a movie... 8-)))
But I made a mental note of that author, and I'll get the books if I have a chance.
I'm still finishing Joe Haldeman's "Forever Peace", this book wan the Hugo and the Nebula prizes but I don't think that it is as good as the other 2 books in the serie "The Forever War" and "Forever Free".
