... this has great promise! But, it looks like I'll have to figure out all over again how to add my banner and avatar. Hmmm. Actually I was satisfied pretty much with the old site. I rarely had any problem with it for as much as I posted.
Pretty much the same thing but with different colors and a slight tweak in position for certain elements. Not really a better look, but definitely not worse either.
Will it perform better than the other site? That is what I am interested in learning over the next few days.
I'm fairly certain you will be pleasantly surprised Hatman. This site goes supersonic when presenting a page, posting a comment or showing a picture of your headwear.
but at this time of day and as busy a week as it has been, its just overwhelming. But my pipes are still full, and I absolutely love all the work that has been done. Give me another week and I will be all for it.
The new site looks great, you did a fantastic job Lars. I need to check it out some more and set my stuff up. One thing that I did not like is that we did not keep the original my pipes community picture and text ( I liked that pipe). Also it is kind of bright compared to the other, it will take a couple of days to get used to it. Anyway thanks for the improvements and making the best pipe forum on the web even better.
Dave, I hear you loud and clear. I've had my share of crashes, and after each one I promised myself to start backing everything up :) I still make that promise.
Jsu, Thanks for the kind words. The new site is quite different from what we're used to. The look of the site is probably what took most of the time to figure out - well that's not entirely true, but it did take an enormous amount of time. In the end the choice fell on breaking up with the old and usher in the new. The change is dramatic, but it's my hope that everyone will be happy with result, after an acclimatization period.
From what tests I have run on the forum it is working much faster with less errors
The colors are brighter but that allows the darker letters to show better
I still have to try it in my other browser but it seems to work great in firefox
Update:
I have run tests on all my browsers
Opera 964
Kmelon 1.5.2
Firefox 3.0.7
Google Chrome 2.0.169.1
The forum shows and works great in all the browsers
Now that I have used it a bit, I have to admit that the new look is better. Less clutter (no chunky headers along the sides, less extraneous "stuff" in general, etc.) and better contrast between the background and test. I still think it is very similar to the old, but there are definitely subtle improvements that emerge with use.
It's a lot easier on the eyes, and it strains them (my eyes) a lot less when I read through it. Change can be a good thing, it's what brought humanity progress and all that.
The new MPC is definitely a progress. I like it a lot!
This is a great way to wake up after sleeping 10 hours :) I finally passed out after 35 hours or so. I just couldn't keep my eyes focused :)
Thanks for the kind words guys. Now I have to get some coffee and see about helping the members who signed up but didn't get their account confirmation emails. The mail system has been working overtime with the member invasion :)

I like the new white forums. They look a lot nicer than the blue ones...and the site as a whole is a world better than MPC.com.
Cheers,

When you post, it's instant. No more accidental duplicates. Really a nice change all around. Thanks again Lars. Awesome!

You're very welcome. About the chat, it DOES seem to be rock solid unlike many other chat clients I have come across.
